If you haven't been part of the wave of people watching the critically acclaimed web-series, "The Addie and Adam Program", then you are missing out on something pretty special. Maybe not for the viewers or America, but for me.
Have you ever heard of a "passion project"? It is something you do for no money and you are a part of it simply for the joy you get out of it. The "Addie and Adam Program", is a 3-5 minute weekly show I do with my oldest daughter and we discuss whatever is in her little sarcastic mind. It is unedited, unscripted, and unrehearsed, which in any video situation is scary, it is even more so with a kid. Luckily, she is enjoyable to talk to and our interaction in real life is surprisingly the same on camera, which brings a realism to the show that is fun to watch.
Why do I tell you all of this? Well, obviously to push the show and drive views, but also to show you that sometimes you can do video content for your brand or company and not sell anything. In fact, it took me three episodes to even mention my website address. I won't do it every time and besides the logo bug in the corner of the screen, a new viewer wouldn't have an idea what they are watching or why, but they know it is funny and different. The plan is that the show continues to get likes and shares and gain a little momentum through various channels and platforms, thus driving traffic and awareness to the AGP brand and site.
It will be a slow burn or catch like wildfire, I have no idea. I do know that if I don't continue to create this unique type of content for a company that's creative vision is literally "Telling Corporate Stories Differently", I am no better than any other video production company on the planet. And that would be sad.
Look at what your company is producing as video content, or wanting to produce and then put a little column to the right that says, "Different" and start creating things that bring your company and people closer to prospects or clients. Be bold and unique, and dare your team or video producers to come up with unique concepts and content that don't sell anything, but rather showcase your company in a light all of your own.
And if you are looking for inspiration, ask my daughter, as she is truly shining her own light. Watch the first three episodes of season one of "The Addie and Adam Program", if you don't believe me.
